Once a year the BABC brings together members of all its 23 chapters throughout the UK and North America at its Annual Transatlantic Business Conference, for a two-day program of high-level business discussions and networking with business executives actively involved in transatlantic business.
The conference has previously been held in the cities of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Edinburgh, Washington and San Francisco.
The US is a major investor in Birmingham and the West Midlands. The area is currently home to over 350 North American companies employing some 60,000 people. This conference will welcome guests from across the BABC network including members and colleagues from our 18 chapters across the USA and Canada. It will be a high profile platform to showcase the city?s potential and in return contribute to the continuous growth of the BABC network and strengthen UK/North American relationships.
The business programme of the conference will include a line-up of senior business executives, governmental decision-makers and leading opinion-formers (e.g. influential editors). In creating this program, BABC will draw on its close relationships with the British Government, Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Birmingham City Council, US Embassy London, and UK Trade & Investment, as well as major multinational companies and media.
The theme of the conference will be ?Strategies for Success in Tomorrow?s Economy? ? Design, Advanced Manufacturing & Professional Services. Keynote speakers and experts will be invited to the conference to provide an insight into these areas.
The social and cultural program will include a welcome reception at the Symphony Hall with a special concert performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday 15th May 2013.
On the evening of Thursday 16th May a high-end Gala Dinner will take place in the Banqueting Suite at the Birmingham Council House (with a pre-dinner reception in the Round Room) and we are anticipating that both a senior Cabinet Minister and/or the US Ambassador will be present.
The conference will be held in the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham City Centre and there will be a choice of three conference hotels.
