The US and California, are facing many issues due to declining water reserves and the high energy costs associated with processes to clean and desalinate water.
In California, the nation's top agricultural state, reservoir levels are at historic lows, demand is at historic highs and many of the current water supplies in the San Joaquin Valley have a high salt content, thus affecting crop choices farmers must make.
Researchers, private companies, and governments are all investigating and implementing new techniques and processes to avert the water crisis. What is being done?
