Enforcement against international corruption continues in spite of the global shutdown. This invitation-only event is a must for in-house counsel, investigators and compliance officers whose remit includes bribery and corruption risk. We have brought together two leading experts who have been at the heart of some of the most high-profile SFO/DOJ investigations and prosecutions of the last decade. They will be sharing lessons on the current expectations of regulators.
As the UK Bribery Act is about to enter its 10th year, the collaborative enforcement efforts of regulators globally have never been more focussed and coordinated. This is epitomised by the recent Airbus settlement. Whilst the eye-watering £3 billion+ settlement stole most of the headlines, there are useful lessons to be learned from the increasingly complex challenge of navigating bribery and corruption risk for companies with global operations and supply chains.
During the webinar, we will be discussing:
Allison Clare QC
Allison is Queen's Counsel of Red Lion Chambers and specialises in corporate and individual criminal liability for white collar crime. She acts or has acted for a number of prominent UK corporates in respect of corruption, fraud and money laundering allegations and investigations. Allison also currently represents a number of individuals who are suspects in ongoing SFO corruption investigations. Allison acted for the SFO in the ICBC Standard Bank, Rolls Royce and Airbus Deferred Prosecution Agreements.
Antonio (Tony) Suarez Martinez
Tony is an Assistant General Counsel at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and led the GSK team that managed GSK’s response to the SFO’s investigation, which concluded in a decision by the SFO to take no further action against the company. Before joining GSK, Tony was a partner at Edwards Wildman (Cooley), practising in the litigation department, managing significant disputes and investigations for multinationals, as well as for governments, including undertaking asset recovery work (in relation to the proceeds of corruption). At GSK, Tony heads up the UK litigation team handling a variety of issues, including commercial and product liability disputes and investigations, as well as providing compliance advice to the organisation.
