Join us for an intimate discussion with Scotsman Stuart McKenzie, who recently fled Ukraine with his family to Poland. Stuart and his family have stayed in Poland to help with other refugees and those who desperately need assistance. Stuart McKenzie was born in Scotland, and was educated in the Scottish University system, left the UK in his 20's and lived the last 25+ years in Ukraine, with his wife Lena. They have three children, two boys (12 & 15 years old) and a daughter who is currently studying a degree at an American University. Stuart also left Kyiv with his mother in law, who was initially too ill to make the journey.
Stuart is a huge advocate of Scottish culture and history and led the Scottish Society in Ukraine, where he has hosted events with thousands of attendees, while raising millions for charity at the same time. He recently won an award with the Kyiv Post for his outstanding lifetime achievement in improving the lives of Ukrainians and active leadership in the nations expatriate community.
We will keep this discussion rather informal. It will be 9pm in Poland, and the days are long for Stuart and his family. We will hear about his decision to leave his home, the dangerous journey that he took with his family, and his perspective on the current state of eastern Europe.
